While it can be easy to come up with a great pattern or design in your head or sketch it out on paper, it can sometimes be difficult to translate that design into Illustrator, especially if you’re new to the program! Here are some great tips & tutorials to help you improve your designs when creating or adjusting them in Illustrator.

Melissa Coleman of Faux Martha did a great series about Illustrator Basics, including a post about creating repeatable patterns!

Our very own Alma Loveland wrote a handy post about Illustrator Shortcuts over on the Nicole’s Classes blog that will save you so much time, you might even be able to take a nap today (thank you, Alma!).

Speaking of Nicole’s Classes, did you know they have free video tutorials? Here are some great ones on how to  use the Pathfinder tool in Illustrator (here, here and here), and another helpful video about the layer’s palette in Illustrator.

Happy weekend, everyone!

P.S. Have you seen this Unexpected Type series that Melanie started with her daughter? Check out her Instagram feed to see more and get ready to fall in love!
